Set on a bluff facing the ocean, this back yard design features an elevated pool and integral spa with custom limestone spill bowl centered on the front door axis. The 3” thick limestone pool coping set at a comfortable 16” high provides a place to sit for swimmers and guests and lends an elegant feel to the pool. Flowering plants, including Iris, Gaura and Verbena bonariensis, surround the pool. The random flagstone paving flows throughout the seating and dining areas, providing an organic counterpoint to the rectilinear pool geometry. The elevated lounge area is an inviting spot for the evening sunset over the ocean. Mediterranean plants such as Agave ‘Blue Glow’, Little Ollie, Achillea ‘Sonoma Coast’, Lomandra ‘Breeze’ and Pittosporum ‘Wheeler’s Dwarf’ withstand coastal conditions and are a tapestry in gray and green foliage.
